What is the Hongkong Prize?

The Hongkong Prize is an annual competition honoring science and technology innovation. Sponsored by Bank of Hong Kong, this highly competitive contest attracts thousands of applications each year and rewards winners with not only a cash prize but also access to Hong Kong’s premier research facilities.

Winners of the Hongkong Prize come from diverse backgrounds, yet all share an interest in Asia and its rich cultures. As one of few writing contests that recognize Asian languages, this contest provides a fantastic way to improve writing skills while learning more about its history and culture.

In order to enter the Hongkong Prize, students must first be nominated by their teachers. Once nominated, students can submit their artwork online before the submission deadline and it will then be reviewed and scored by a panel of judges – those deemed most deserving will win an individual judges prize of HK$8,000; their school will also receive a grant of HK$20k!

This year’s winners include a young man using technology to assist homeless individuals and an artist who reinterprets human rights into fine art concepts. Alongside receiving their monetary prizes, winning scientists will also present their work at an awards ceremony to gain international exposure for their research. The Hongkong Prize provides young people the chance to showcase their talents and make an impactful statement about humanity today.

Scientists who have made substantial contributions to global health can apply for the Hongkong Prize, an honor bestowing scientific research that has had an enormous effect on society. Open to researchers worldwide and chosen through a rigorous peer review process free from sponsorship or special committee influences, the Hongkong Prize is one of Asia’s premier prizes and will help expand career prospects for many recipients.

Since 2007, Justice Centre Hong Kong has strived to ensure no one walks alone on their journey towards protection, justice and a decent life for forced migrants through legal assistance, psychosocial support, research projects and community initiatives. The Hongkong Prize presents an ideal platform to raise awareness for human rights while encouraging diversity and inclusivity.
